Had been trustee of Brick Presbyterian Church, East Orange, vice-president of Citizens* Union and member of Sinking Fund Commission of East Orange, and chairman of East Orange Division of Welfare Federation of the Oranges 1921-27;

Since 26 Dec 1929, Director, Consolidated Gas Company.

Since Jan 1929 - General Chairman of Business Men’s Division of Greater New York Federation of Churches.

1924 to 1926 - Chairman of executive committee of Hampton-Tuskegee endowment fund campaign.

1923 - A corporator of Miriam Osborn Memorial Home and since then a trustee; member of council of New York University since 1903 and of its executive committee for 1929 and 1930.

1917 to 1919 - Treasurer of Robert C Ogden Memorial Committee (auditorium built at Hampton in honor of the former president of the board of trustees of Hampton Institute)

Since 1913, Treasurer and trustee of O B. Potter Properties, Inc.

Since 1909 - Trustee of Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute, made vice-president of the investment committee 1915, and chosen chairman of the board on April 24, 1930, to succeed his classmate, William Howard Taft (S&B 1817)

1910 to 1925 - Member of Yale Corporation as one of the successors of the Original Trustees.[4]

Since 1903 - Director, Mechanics & Metals Bank, Thompson-Starrett Company (building construction), Southern Pacific Railroad Company (until recently).

Since 1903 - Treasurer of Class of 1878 and Class Agent 1893 to 1898 and Since 1904;

Since 1902 - President and director of Yale Building Company. Director of Westchester Title & Mortgage Guaranty Company.

1900 and 1927 - Former trustee of Kowaliga School (industrial school for colored youth), Benson, Ala.

Since 1895 - Director, United States Life Insurance Company.

Since 1895 - Vice President of City Real Estate.

Since 1892 - Director, Lincoln Trust Company, Corn Exchange Bank & Trust Company.

1892 - helped to organize Bond & Mortgage Guarantee Company, of which he was second vice-president and general manager until 1925 and chairman of the board since 1925;

1905 to 1923 - President of Yale Foreign Missionary Society ; wrote an article on “Guarantee Companies” for Johnson’s Universal Cyclopedia 1894 and articles on “Title Guarantee Companies*’ for the 10th, nth , and 14th editions of Encyclopedia Bntannica (1902-03, 1910-11, and 1929)

1 Dec 1885 - Married Elizabeth Baldwin Tomlinson.

Since 1883 had been connected with Title Guarantee & Trust Company of New York, which he helped to organize in 1882; office manager at first, made secretary 1885, became vice-president 1886, was president of the company from January, 1892, to January, 1923, and had since been chairman of the board.

1880 - Following his admission to the New York Bar, practiced law in New York City three years, acting as managing clerk for law firm of Chamberlain, Carter & Hornblower 1881-83;

1879 to 1880 - Studied law in Yale School of Law as member of the Junior Class and then at Hamilton, where he received degree of LL B in 1880, also received degree of M.A. at Yale 1880.

1878 to 1879 - Studied German and history in Yale Graduate School as Soldiers Memorial Fellow.

1878 - Graduated Yale, Skull and Bones Patriarch.[1]

Died 30 Apr 1930, from pneumonia. Age 73
